38 Weeks

Baby Updates
Your baby has really plumped up. He weighs about 6.8 pounds and he is over 19 1/2 inches long (about the size of a leek). He has a firm grasp, which you'll soon be able to test when you hold his hand for the first time! His organs have matured and are ready for life outside the womb. Wondering what color your baby's eyes will be? You may not be able to tell right away. If he's born with brown eyes, they'll likely stay brown. If he's born with steel gray or dark blue eyes, they may stay gray or blue or turn green, hazel, or brown by the time he's 9 months old. That's because a child's irises (the colored part of the eye) may gain more pigment in the months after he's born, but they usually won't get "lighter" or more blue. (Green, hazel, and brown eyes have more pigment than gray or blue eyes.)

Symptoms

Heartburn is still my number one complaint, along with swelling. My legs overall hurt, especially if I’m standing for very long.

Food Aversions
Not much that I can think of.

Food Cravings
I’ve been dying to try Chick Fila since they opened in town. I will be making a trip before Brody gets here.

Sleep
Sleep, knock on wood, has been pretty decent. I wake up 3-5 times per night to go pee but thanks to Unisom I’m able to fall back asleep pretty quickly. Audrina has been doing MUCH better in this department as well. When she wakes up it’s usually because she needs to go potty and I can get her back down within 30 mins – 1 hour. Thank god!

Looking Forward To…
Having some time with Audrina before Brody arrives. Her birthday is on the 27th but we’ve decided to have her party this Sunday at the Little Gym. I can’t wait to see how excited she it!

Any Baby/Pregnancy-Related Purchases?
I really wanted a Tula but decided to go with the Mai Tai, it has been amazing reviews. I know it will come in handy.

Belly Button In Or Out?
Flat

Feeling…
I’ve been feeling pretty anxious and guilty lately about Audrina not being the baby anymore. I know this will change and they will be the best of friends but I have so many what ifs running through my head that it’s hard to control my emotions. Also, I’ve never left Audrina overnight and I’m scared that she will wonder where I am or think that we left her. My crazy hormones aren’t helping these feelings. I need to remember that no matter how hard the adjustment is, Audrina and Brody will always have each other as brother and sister and that is pretty amazing!

Any Movement?

Lots of movement, it feels like slow rolling now still. I’ve also been getting quite a few braxton hicks contractions.
