26 Weeks

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air.

And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about 1 2/3 pounds and measures 14 inches (about the size of a scallion) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles should soon begin to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three months.

Now that I'm finally typing this update I'm actually 27 weeks. This Friday is my gestational diabetes test which makes me nervous of course. I've definitely had my fair share of sweets this pregnancy, way more than the last.

Size of baby: an eggplant

Total weight gain: I'm assuming around the same, 25 pounds (wishful thinking) ;)

Movement: I'm feeling kicks much stronger this week

Sleep: Sleeping well still, no complaints

What I miss: I don't miss much besides the occasional cocktail.

Cravings: Burgers all the way! I could pretty much eat burgers 24/7.

Labor Signs: N/A

Maternity clothes: Pretty much all maternity besides my comfy clothes at home.

Best moments this week: Memorial day weekend, 3 days of pure bliss spent with my little family. I'm soaking up every minute with Audrina. That girl amazes me every day, I may kick myself for this later but I think we are past the 'terrible' stages. We went through some ROUGH times with Audrina from what feels like newborn to 2.5. Things really shifted around 2.5 and are SO much easier. Throwing another baby in the mix will change things for sure but I have no doubt that she will be an amazing big sister, she really couldn't be any sweeter (most of the time).

24 Weeks

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at about 1 1/3 pounds. Since he's almost a foot long (about the size of an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

I just got back from my 24 appointment and everything is starting to feel real now. We scheduled my c-section for August 20th. It feels so weird to know the exact day and time our son will come into the world. My OCD planner self kind of likes this but I also know things can change.

Size of baby: An ear of corn

Total weight gain: 25 pounds, yikes!! I just looked back at my 24 week update with Audrina and I gained the same amount of weight at this point (24 weeks). The crazy part is when I was pregnant with Audrina I was working out every day, this time around I'm not working out but I try to get 10K steps to cancel out all of my doughnut eating.

Movement: Lots of low kicks, I feel them most when I'm at work sitting at my desk.

Sleep: Sleeping well still, no complaints

What I miss: Not feeling out of breath walking around, my belly is starting to feel heavier.

Cravings: Lots of carbs, bagels, bread etc.

Labor Signs: N/A

Maternity clothes: Pretty much all maternity besides my comfy clothes at home.
Best moments this week: Getting to hear the babes heartbeat this morning and scheduling my c-section. Thanks to my crazy pregnancy hormones, I was almost in tears (happy tears) when I left my appointment. I just can't wait to hold my baby boy in my arms.

24 Weeks Pregnant with Audrina

One last picture, too adorable not to share. This was Audrina last night taking care of her baby. She's going to be the best sister.
