15 Weeks

I'm happy to say that I FINALLY have a bump. It's not much but I had a random person at the gym notice that I'm pregnant. Derek thought that was 'rude' because what if I just had a belly and wasn't really pregnant? Well, I am and I wanted to hug this stranger for noticing. :)
For many years, doctors recommend that women just spend the entire 9 months on the couch, but now, we know that there are many benefits for mom and baby. Safe, moderate exercise improves mood/body image, helps maintain a healthy weight gain, and strengthens muscles and prepares the body for childbirth. Some studies have demonstrated a link between exercise and a lower risk for complications like gestational diabetes and preeclampsia. Furthermore, “Previous research has indicated that exercise in the first trimester, when the placenta is formed, helps forge extra blood vessels so that there is more opportunity to exchange nutrients between mom and baby” (source). And last, but certainly not least, when the mom exercises, the baby’s heart benefits, too – resulting in a lower and more efficient fetal heart rate (source).

How far along? 15 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 5 lbs (Probably more by now, we'll find out later this week!)
Maternity clothes? Sporting maternity jeans and dress slacks but I'm still working with my normal tops for now. In the last week my normal jeans went from fitting just fine to not buttoning.
Stretch marks? No - I've been slathering on the Burt's Bees 'Mama Bee' products...fingers crossed!
Sleep: Sleeping great, minus waking up to pee every night at 3 am.
Best moment this week: Cooking dinner again most nights & more baby movement!!
Miss Anything? Wine! There was been many times in the past week where I was dying for a glass. I also gave up candy for lent, so I'm missing my cinnamon bears.
Movement: Feeling it just a little each day!
Food cravings: My newest craving is Girl Scout cookies. I bought two boxes at work but I've been pretty good about only having one or two per night. In reality, I would like to eat the entire sleeve of thin mints. My sister said her biggest pregnancy craving was Girl Scout cookies when she was pregnant with my niece.
Anything making you queasy or sick: I've been doing really well in this department. Chicken is still a hit or miss. I don't like cooking it but don't mind it at a restaurant.
Have you started to show yet: More this week for sure! I can no longer hide the belly, it's out there for good now. :)
Gender prediction: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On - I do take them off at work from time to time to give my fingers a break.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finding out if we are having a boy or a girl!! I can't wait to start planning the nursery and buying clothes. What do you think it is?!
I will add a better picture later. This is my self-portrait before the gym last night.

14 weeks and Combined Screen Results

Today has been pretty amazing for me in pregnancy land. I just got the best call from my Dr. saying that my combined screen results were excellent, better than the average. My chances for down syndrome are 1 in 7,000. The average for my age is 1 in 1,000 so I'm very pleased about this. My results for trisomy 13 were also VERY low, 1 in 15,000 I believe. I've been worried sick for the past week about these results. Also, my thyroid levels are perfect. I take medicine to regulate my thyroid and sometimes your levels can change after becoming pregnant.

According to TheBump.com, Continuing the march towards normal proportions, baby’s legs now out measure the arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably still can’t feel the movements.

And, according to BabyCenter.com, Your growing baby now measures about 4 inches long, crown to rump, and weighs in at about 2 1/2 ounces (about the size of an apple). She’s busy moving amniotic fluid through her nose and upper respiratory tract, which helps the primitive air sacs in her lungs begin to develop. Her legs are growing longer than her arms now, and she can move all of her joints and limbs. Although her eyelids are still fused shut, she can sense light. If you shine a flashlight at your tummy, for instance, she’s likely to move away from the beam. There’s not much for your baby to taste at this point, but she is forming taste buds. Finally, if you have an ultrasound this week, you may be able to find out whether your baby’s a boy or a girl! (Don’t be too disappointed if it remains a mystery, though. Nailing down your baby’s sex depends on the clarity of the picture and on your baby’s position. He or she may be modestly curled up or turned in such a way as to “hide the goods.”)

How far along? 14 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 5-6 lbs

Maternity clothes?
Bought a few things, but not wearing any yet
Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Sleeping better than last week. I still continue to wake up on my back no matter what position I fall asleep in.

Best moment this week: Hearing my excellent combined screen results and having an amazing lunch with my best friend and seeing the Vow. I'm shocked that I didn't cry during the movie, even with my crazy hormones.
Have you told family and friends:
Yes!
Miss Anything? Wine & Fish. I really missed wine at the wedding we attended over the weekend. I asked my hubby to smell his glass so I could dream about having a sip. :) Also, I NEVER crave fish and all of a sudden, I want tuna and all sorts of fish.

Movement:
I swear I felt something this week!! A few different times I felt a fish-swimming-in-my-belly feeling that made me very aware of my stomach. Potentially my imagination.
Food cravings: Slurpee’s. I ALMOST got one yesterday but it was freezing outside and I didn't need the sugar.

Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat and Chipotle, which makes me sad. I love Chipotle and now just the smell or thought makes me sick.
Have you started to show yet:
Looking chubby for sure but not one person has noticed a bump.
Gender prediction: I keep dreaming that it's a boy but with the recent breakouts I've been getting, it's making me think it could be a girl.

Labor Signs:
No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Looking forward to: Finding out the gender& feeling the baby move!

13 Weeks...or am I?

♥Happy Valentine's Day!!♥
This week has already been a little crazy. My little Valentine didn't want to be in the right position for the NT scan to get accurate results, so I got to go back today for a second shot. The ultrasound tech told me that I needed to drink 10 cups of water and eat breakfast before my 7:30am appointment. Needless to say, making a pregnant lady drink 10 cups of water an hour before her appointment is just evil. I almost puked a few times. Today, the baby was laying on its back and she got the measurements she needed. I have to wait a week to get all of results, but the fold measured 2.2 and she could see the nasal bone. She seemed very positive about what she saw.
This picture makes me very happy, I'm already SO in love! ♥
The baby is now the size of a peach! I love peaches! : )
According to thebump.com:
Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords… savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby’s tummy. (Much more convenient.)
According to babycenter.com:
Fingerprints have formed on your baby’s tiny fingertips, her veins and organs are clearly visible through her still-thin skin, and her body is starting to catch up with her head — which makes up just a third of her body size now. If you’re having a girl, she now has more than 2 million eggs in her ovaries. Your baby is almost 3 inches long (the size of a medium shrimp) and weighs nearly an ounce.

How far along? 13weeks but today I measured 13 weeks + 6 days
Baby Size: A Peach
Total weight gain/loss: +4 Pounds

Maternity clothes? Still fitting in all my normal clothes, though I do wear maternity jeans once in a while.
Stretch marks?
No...wearing all the creams and oils that I can! But I do think they're inevitable...my skin is prone to these little buggers.
Sleep: Sleeping pretty well now thanks to the pillow between the thigh trick.

Best moment this week: Seeing the baby yesterday and today. He/she was moving was sucking its thumb and moving around so much.
Have you told family and friends:
YES! And so happy everyone knows now! :)
Miss Anything? I don't miss wine nearly as much as I thought I would. I do miss sushi though... I also miss enjoying chocolate. I haven't had dark chocolate since before I found out I was pregnant.
Movement: Little flutters which make me SO happy!

Food cravings: Carbs carbs and carbs! Mostly bagels and cream cheese. We went to the Olive Garden on Saturday night, which was amazing. I ordered something I would typically never order in a million years, the five cheese ziti. I plan on making my own version at home tonight for my love. I also am also still loving watermelon.
Anything making you queasy or sick:
It's getting better...still not super hot on veggies but the salad at the Olive Garden was delicious. Raw onions repulse me and so does meat for the most part.
Have you started to show yet: I think there's a little something coming in...I'm excited for this part!
Gender prediction: I honestly have NO idea! But can't wait to find out! Maybe I need to start a poll?? My husband's family has a lot of boys but my family has a lot of girls...it really could go either way.
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In

Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! I'm excited to spend Valentine's Day at home with my hubby.
Looking forward to: Looking forward to the wedding we are attending the Saturday even though I has NO idea what to wear. I'm still fitting in almost everything but I feel like I look chubby. I'm thinking black pants with flats and a flowy top.
I just love weddings, I'm sure I will cry with my crazy hormones right now.

12 Weeks

I am a lime! I am a lime! Yay!!! I seriously can’t believe how quick the weeks are now flying by!

How Big is Baby?
As you move into the second trimester, baby shifts into the growth and maturation stage. After weeks in the critical development stage, almost all of baby’s systems are fully formed. (thebump.com)
According to Babycenter.com this is what is happening to Baby Amundson this week- The most dramatic development this week: reflexes. Your baby’s fingers will soon begin to open and close, his toes will curl, his eye muscles will clench, and his mouth will make sucking movements. In fact, if you prod your abdomen, your baby will squirm in response, although you won’t be able to feel it. His intestines, which have grown so fast that they protrude into the umbilical cord, will start to move into his abdominal cavity about now, and his kidneys will begin excreting urine into his bladder.
Meanwhile, nerve cells are multiplying rapidly, and in your baby’s brain, synapses are forming furiously. His face looks unquestionably human: His eyes have moved from the sides to the front of his head, and his ears are right where they should be. From crown to rump, your baby-to-be is just over 2 inches long (about the size of a lime) and weighs half an ounce.

How far along? 12 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 3.5 lbs
Maternity clothes? 2 pair of maternity jeans that I don't need to wear quite yet and some super cute maternity shirts my sister bought me.

Stretch marks? No
Sleep: Still having trouble sleeping at night, I'm looking into getting a pregnancy pillow.  I've been spending a lot of time in bed relaxing at night after my workout.

Best moment this week: All of the yummy food at the two Super Bowl parties we attended but I made myself sick from overeating.
Have you told family and friends: Yes!
Miss Anything? Tuna, Coke Zero and spray tanning

Movement: Little flutters here and there
Food cravings: Watermelon, PB&J and cinnamon bears (first sweet thing I've craved)
Anything making you queasy or sick: Meat still...chicken, beef...you name it

Have you started to show yet: A little bump so far - I've been wearing flowy tops which hides the muffin top.  Good bye flat abs.
Gender prediction: Girl
Labor Signs: No
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy!
Weekly Wisdom: Don't do a lot of grocery shopping on the weekend because you will change your mind every 10 minutes on what sounds good.  Nothing tastes the way it used to.

Looking forward to: My Dr. appointment next Monday, 2/13

One of the shirts my sister bought me....

Seven Jeans Have Arrived!

I'm so excited that my Seven jeans have arrived. They are a little more snug then I would like but I think I can break them in.

Here are some work bathroom shots. ;-)
